The authors have investigated the frequency of HBsAg from 10388 blood donors who visited during the period of 4th. Jan. 1977 and 30th. Sept. 1978. Dae Jeon Red Cross Blood Bank. The results were as follow:
1) HBsAg was positive in 302 among 10,388 cases of Blood donors(2.9%);the positive rate was 3.4% were in male (199 among 5,776) and 2.2% were in female (103 among 4,612). The rate of positive was higher in male than female.
2) The prevalence rates of HBsAg by age groups were distributed as follow;
30∼34 age group showeds the highest rate with 3.7%. 25∼29 age group was 3.5%, 16∼19 age group was 3.1%, 35∼39 age group was 2.5%, and 20∼24 age group was 1.6%. HBsAg was not detertecd in the group over 40 years of age.
3) The prevalence rates of ABsAg by occugpation were;
service job; 20%(1/5), sales clerks; 10.53%(4/38) production, auto repairmen, drivers and mechanics; 6.06%(4/66), the clerical workers; 3.33%(8/240) and unclassified; 2.87%(282/9841), professional technicians and related jobs; 2.20%(2/91), office workers; 1.03%(1/97).
No positive was found among the people who work in the fields of agriculture, animal husbandary, foresting, marine products industry, and hunting.
4) The prevalence rate of HBsAg by seasonal differences showed; the lowestin winter (January and Febraury) and the highest in summer (July-August).
